Law Firm Profile

First-class service, outstanding expertise and personal support have been both our objective and our calling card since our law firm was established. This is the approach we have used for over 25 years to advise our German and international clients on M&A, financial and capital market transactions, and also on all corporate, employment and commercial law issues.

Our M&A activities focus on the SME sector (small and mid-cap) transactions. Here we advise entrepreneurs, management teams on MBO/MBI situations and private equity investors.

In addition to "traditional" financing advice in connection with corporate transactions, our Banking & Finance Team also offers our clients ongoing support with respect to regulatory issues concerning banks and, if necessary, banking litigation. Our advisory practice for FinTech companies is currently developing at a very dynamic pace.

We have particular expertise in the acquisition, servicing and sale of non-performing loan portfolios. This practice area collaborates closely with our real estate practice and our Notary Practice.

A further focus is employment law, both in terms of providing general advice to our clients and also in relation to specific transactions. The advice services we provide in this area in particular also include collective employment law and issues in connection with restructuring projects.

If required to safeguard the interests of our clients, you have access to the expertise of our forensic experts.

Our Telecommunications/Media/Infrastructure practice group, which beyond transaction structuring gives our clients access to outstanding industry expertise, has developed from our long-established transactions practice in the multimedia, cable and telecommunications sectors.

However, not only transactions depend on excellent corporate and commercial law know-how for their success; the day-to-day business operations of companies also require professional support. If requested by our clients, we also provide in-house lawyers for project-based activities within the scope of secondments.

These services are complemented by a highly efficient in-house Notary Practice specialised in complex company law and M&A notarisations, as well as German and international real estate transactions.

Schalast is a member of the international network MULTILAW. The network is represented worldwide with over 8,000 lawyers in over 150 of the most important commercial centres. Member law firms are carefully selected on the basis of a strict qualification process. Schalast is therefore able to offer its clients one-stop, cross-border legal advice concepts.

Our international expertise is also demonstrated by the fact that since establishment of our law firm we have on behalf of German and European/international institutions, advised ministries and governments in Central and Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean and Central Asia on legal reform, in particular with respect to the deregulation and modernisation of national commercial law.
