Frankfurt/Hamburg: Energy law expert Janka Schwaibold becomes Equity Partner at Schalast / Energy Team expands

Janka Schwaibold will become a new equity partner at Schalast as of January 1, 2023. The energy law expert joined Schalast in June 2021 together with Counsel Victoria Boss and strengthened the firm's Hamburg office. The majority of Janka Schwaibold's clients are energy suppliers. Her expertise is also intertwined with numerous projects from other practice groups, often in connection with ESG matters or the green transition. Her team has grown to include another associate, Gesa Wesselmann, since Dec. 1, 2022. As of Jan. 1, 2023, Janka Schwaibold will lead the Communications & Infrastructure practice group and take on her new role as equity partner.

Personal details

Janka Schwaibold is an equity partner and head of the Communications & Infrastructure practice group as of Jan. 1, 2023. She has been successfully advising energy utilities in the areas of electricity, gas and heat for many years, both on a company-specific basis and in the context of working groups, lectures and training courses. She advises large energy utilities on energy purchasing and cost optimization. She serves distribution system and customer system operators on regulatory issues and in the context of energy production. She conducts proceedings before courts, regulatory authorities as well as arbitration boards, supports associations in making statements in legislative and regulatory proceedings and mediates between market roles.

Janka Schwaibold studied law in Jena and at Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand, and completed her legal clerkship in Potsdam. After her admission to the bar in 2007, she initially worked in Berlin for the national energy law boutique BBH. She has been a mediator since 2012.
